Finding a journal to publish your article

Some ideas:

  • Consider the journals in the reference list of your manuscript
  • Journal impact factors - measures the average number of citations of articles published in the last one - two years
  • Read the Instructions to Authors
  • Email a letter to the editor of journals about your topic
  • Decide who is likely to read your article - clinical, research, specialty etc and target their journals
  • Use JANE Journal Finder - JANE will then compare your abstract/manuscript to millions of documents in PubMed to find the best matching journals, authors or articles
