Welcome to the Research Department of Mercy Health Youngstown.
BSMH IRB TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION (GME)
CITI training is NOT required for Exempt Category studies.
For Expedited Category and Convened Board studies (Non-Exempt studies), all research team members must complete a training course or have a current (non-expired at time of submission) training certificate for Human Subjects Research (HSR) only. The HSR certificate is good for three (3) years. No additional courses (i.e., responsible conduct of research, conflicts of interest, Good Clinical Practice) are required by the BSMH IRB for Non-Exempt study submissions. However, your GME program may require additional courses in accordance with its own
requirements, so you will want to check with your program.
Bon Secours Mercy Health Office of Research has established a subscription to the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program to provide its researchers with research training for their convenience.
Please find below step-by-step instructions for creating your CITI Program account and completing the required HSR training. For those who have taken CITI Training under affiliation with another institution, by using your unique login information and clicking on “Records” in the
header, you will have access to HSR course completion data for both your current and past institutional affiliations.
